PAVE-SCAN Demonstrates Smart Mobility Innovation at EU Space Days 2026

Nicosia, Cyprus | 26–27 May 2026 – Passengers travelling to EU Space Days 2026 had the opportunity to experience the future of smart mobility through the PAVE-SCAN bus, which showcased innovative technologies developed within the Horizon Europe-funded project.

EU Space Days is the European Commission's flagship event for the space sector, bringing together policymakers, industry representatives, researchers, and innovators to discuss the future of space technologies and their applications.

Passengers were introduced to PAVE-SCAN's advanced roadway monitoring technologies, powered by Galileo EGNSS and artificial intelligence. The demonstration highlighted how public transport vehicles can be transformed into intelligent sensing platforms capable of monitoring road conditions, while also providing insight into how European research and innovation are contributing to safer, smarter, and more connected mobility solutions.

The PAVE-SCAN bus transformed the journey to EU Space Days into a live demonstration of how satellite positioning, artificial intelligence, and public transport can work together to support smarter, safer, and more sustainable mobility.

The initiative provided a unique opportunity to bring innovative transport technologies directly to citizens and stakeholders while showcasing the real-world applications of European research and innovation.
