LPT Shares Larnaca Living Lab Experience at Smart City Expo World Congress 2025

Barcelona, Spain | 6 November 2025 – Larnaca Public Transport participated in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025, contributing to the Agora Session “Co-Creating Inclusive Cities: Advancing Societal Readiness in Urban Mobility.” The session brought together European mobility initiatives and urban innovation stakeholders to explore how collaboration and citizen engagement can support the development of more inclusive and sustainable cities.

Representing the SUM Project and the Larnaca Living Lab, Research Project Manager Katerina Maxouti shared insights on the role of co-creation activities, citizen participation, and local innovation in shaping the future of urban mobility in Cyprus. The presentation highlighted how engagement with citizens and stakeholders can help develop mobility solutions that better respond to community needs while supporting the transition towards more sustainable transport systems.

The session, moderated by Andreas Piller, ICLEI Europe / CIVITAS Initiative, featured representatives from the SUM, Gemini MOBILITIES FOR EU, and metaCCAZE projects. Discussions focused on how cities can build trust, strengthen stakeholder collaboration, and create the right conditions to scale innovative mobility solutions that contribute to climate-neutral and people-centred urban environments.

As part of the Smart City Expo World Congress programme, the session provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge and best practices with city representatives, researchers, policymakers, and industry experts from across Europe. Participants explored approaches for strengthening societal readiness and supporting the successful adoption of innovative urban mobility solutions.

By sharing the experience and lessons learned from the Larnaca Living Lab, CPT contributed to the wider European discussion on how cities can place citizens at the centre of mobility innovation.
